Hiawathaland Council Seeks to Merge with Bay-Lakes

Some of you may know that over the past year, the Councils in Area Two, which basically includes the whole state of Michigan, looked at their viability as individual councils and agreed to join together in one large coordinating council for the entire state of Michigan.  Hiawathaland Council, which serves the entire UP except a small section near Duluth at the far western edge of the state, participated in the discussions but voted not to join the new Council.  Instead they looked at other options for serving their area. We’re So Excited!

Thanks to everyone who voted for Bay-Lakes Council in the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region’s 25 for 25 Charity Challenge!  We’re delighted to share that Bay-Lakes Council won the top prize for our agency group which consists of a $25,000 endowment to be permanently invested within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region and a $2,500 unrestricted grant to use immediately.

Our sincere thanks to the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region and their investors who made the Challenge possible.   To our dedicated volunteers and staff, thanks for voting and for demonstrating to the community the strength of Scouting!
